Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
At the Umulolo hamlet along the Okigwe-Enugu Expressway in Imo State, four Catholic sisters have been abducted.
The Sisters of Jesus the Saviour’s (Generalate) Secretary-General, Sister Zita Ihedoro, released a statement in which the kidnapping was confirmed.
The victims were taken hostage on en route to a morning mass, according to the statement. She named the abducted sisters as Liberata Mbamalu, Benita Agu, Christabel Echemazu, and Johannes Nwodo.
The body prayed for the immediate and complete release of the four sisters and asked all religious believers to pray for their speedy and secure return.
According to Mike Abattam, the public relations officer for the Imo state police, the incident has been reported to the command.
He stated that in order to assure the sisters’ prompt rescue, the Commissioner of Police immediately dispatched men from the anti-kidnapping squad to search the nearby bushes.
The Methodist Prelate, Samuel Uche, was abducted a few months ago in the same area as Sunday’s kidnapping.
