Four PDP chieftains and supporters have defected to the APC in Kebbi State citing the umbrella camp’s crisis as the reason for their decision.

At least four Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in Kebbi State have resigned from the party, citing the umbrella camp’s crisis as the reason for their decision.
According to Track News, politicians from the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi, along with their supporters, immediately pledged allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among the defectors are Alhaji Shehu Ribah of Danko/Wasagu, Alhaji Nuhu Goma of Zuru, Alhaji Adamu Jalalo of Fakai, and Alhaji Babuga Diri of Sakaba Local Government Areas of the state.

Former PDP members were welcomed into the APC fold at a rally in Zuru over the weekend.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Samaila Yombe-Dabai, who was accompanied by the state APC chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, congratulated the politicians and described the event as a watershed moment in the state’s political history.

Yombe-Dabai assured the defectors that they would be treated as genuine APC members in all APC matters.

“We applaud Gov. Atiku Bagudu for providing relief to the people of the state,” he said. His thoughtful gesture aided the mass movement of people to the party.”

Kana-Zuru praised the defectors’ decision to join the APC, saying it was the right one. He emphasized that new members will be treated fairly, justly, and on a level playing field within the party.

Alhaji Abubakar Nayaya, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, and Alhaji Kabiru Tukura, a member of the House of Representatives, were among those present.

The rally was also attended by some commissioners and special advisers.
