Fresh Trouble For Yakubu Mahmood As INEC Officials Confess, Speak Against Election Results
Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are beginning to speak against the presidential election result that was announced by the electoral body.
While some faulted the results announced from the polling units the controlled even when elections did not hold, some accused their state’ s Electoral Officers of frustrating their efforts.
Reacting to the video showing the aggrieved INEC officials speaking, a concerned Nigerian, @Oseremen said: “Rhis is the reason why we need to deliver all #LabourParty candidate in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections come this Saturday for Peter Obi. ”
Recently, there have been allegations of ‘ complicity in rigging’ against the electoral body.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi had said he will prove to Nigerians in court that he won the poll.
Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress was declared as the winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Obi said he had been asked to go to court if aggrieved, and that is exactly what he would do.
In his words: “I’ m challenging the process, ” he said. It is not about me, it is about the future.”
Meanwhile, following the announcement of the February 25th election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, some women in Kogi Central took to the streets to protest what they described as “injustice” in the elections.
Reports say the women who expressed their determination to upturn the election results by spiritual means, specifically frowned at the outcome of the senatorial election in Kogi central.
As photos of the women make the rounds, Nigerians shared their diverse views.
While some believed that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be spiritually attacked for allegedly rigging the presidential election to power, a few others berated the women for protesting after the election results were announced.
@Ojcoinz said: “Believe this or not not everywhere guns works, na who never see the doubt.”
However, the President- elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had thanked supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, and that of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for participating in the election that has eventually made him the country’s next president.
“Whether you are Batified, Atikulated, Obidient, Kwankwasiyya, or have any other political affiliation, you voted for a better, more hopeful nation and I thank you for your participation and dedication to our democracy.
“You (Mr Obi & Atiku’ s Supporters) decided to place your trust in the democratic vision of a Nigeria founded on shared prosperity and one nurtured by the ideals of unity, justice, peace and tolerance. Renewed hope has dawned in Nigeria,” said Tinubu in his acceptance speech after he was declared the winner of the February 25th presidential poll.
