From the start, I’ll address insecurity, disunity, and economic deprivation – Atiku
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate, has reiterated his commitment to addressing Nigeria’s insecurity, disunity, and economic deprivation from his first day in office if elected President in 2023.
On Wednesday, he made the pledge while speaking to party supporters at the party’s presidential rally in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The PDP candidate first thanked the people of the state for electing Ademola Adeleke as Governor of the state.
He stated that with Adeleke as Governor of the PDP at the state level and Atiku/Okowa as President/Vice President at the federal level, Osun State will experience unprecedented growth in all spheres.
“I have only come to thank you for what you have done; you are a wonderful people who returned the PDP to power in the last state elections,” Atiku said.
“I believe that by returning the PDP to power, you will strengthen this authority by voting PDP in the next general elections, because a federal government controlled by the PDP and a state government controlled by the PDP in Osun State are for the greater good of the Osun people.”
“Our sole goal is to ensure that the current challenges of insecurity, disunity, economic deprivation, a lack of jobs for our young men and women, and the future of this country can be met through restructuring, and I promise you that I will begin doing so immediately.”
“It means giving Osun State more resources and authority over what needs to be done.” To provide development infrastructure, invest in education and healthcare in Osun State, and promote industrialization for the economic benefit of the people of Osun State.
“My brothers and sisters of Osun State, I have come to a very grateful conclusion, and I have urged you, I appeal to you, I beseech you to come out in greater numbers than you did in the last state election and vote for the PDP in the next general election, because that is the only way you can secure your future and the future of your children.”
“We promise you that we will not let you down. We are not like the APC because we have done it before; we have the experience and the people with the ability to effect change; we are not new to Nigerian governance.”
Titi, an indigene of the state, also spoke at the event and urged her kinsmen to vote for her husband, whom she described as a compassionate and detribalized Nigerian.
She stated that Nigeria is more divided than ever before, but that her husband’s first task as President will be to unite the country and return it to a path of growth.
“Atiku is going to restore that lost glory,” Mrs. Atiku stated. Atiku will bring us together; he is a unifier. Atiku has arrived to save Nigeria.
“Atiku has come to rebuild Nigeria.” Atiku has come to provide a good education for our children. There will be no Boko Haram, no kidnapping, and no abduction.
“All of this will come to an end, but it must begin with you.” If you vote for Atiku on February 25, Atiku will have the opportunity to make you great.”
She urged state voters not to sell their consciences in exchange for votes.
Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the PDP, addressed the gathering and stated that the people of the state hold a special place in his heart.
“I am here to thank the people of Osun State for the honor they have bestowed upon me as a person and the party as a whole,” he said.
“I thank the people of Osun for allowing me to produce my first Governor as Chairman of the PDP.” It demonstrates what unity can accomplish, and as a united people, you enabled the PDP to win this strategic state.
“I am glad that some people who were misled and left the party for one reason or another are returning today.” I hope that everyone else follows their lead and returns to the PDP.”
In his remarks, Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, attested to Atiku’s credentials, describing him as the best man for the job.
“Our incoming president is a detribalized person,” he said. He adores everyone, regardless of background. That is why he is the best person for the job. He has prior experience.
“When you compare him to the other presidential candidates, you will see that his experience is enormous.” When he was vice president, he was in charge of the economy. The economy was doing well.
“Even when they handed it over, it was Africa’s largest economy.” As a result, we require experience. We need someone who is honest. We don’t need someone who likes to scrimp and save money.
“As soon as you vote for Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria will survive, and Nigeria will grow stronger.” Our economy will start to pick up steam and move forward.
“In terms of security, he has promised that we will no longer be afraid. All of these kidnappings will come to an end.”
Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, described Atiku as a candidate with the ability to rescue and restore Nigeria so that the country can take pride of place at home and abroad.
He bemoaned the fact that the All Progressives Congress, which ruled at both the federal and state levels, had reduced Osun State to a shadow of its former self.
“We expected that the economy built by our candidate and president Olusegun Obasanjo and the PDP government would be sustained in Osun State by now because industries are looking for power,” Udom said. “Today, one of the messages we have for the people of Osun is that we will restore power in Osun.”
“We will provide you with electricity in Osun; however, you will not have light if a high tension cable passes through your line.” We will save this economy, the youths will return, education will be restored, security will be restored, and Nigeria’s lost glory will be restored.”
