“Funke Akindele paid me N190K, not N90K” – Ijoba Lande claims

Nigerian comedian and skit maker Ijoba Lande has issued a public clarification concerning the payment he received from actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele for a recent project. In a video shared on social media, Lande stated that contrary to earlier claims circulating online, he was paid N190,000 and not N90,000.
The clarification came after reports surfaced alleging that Funke Akindele had underpaid the comedian for his role in one of her film projects. The matter quickly gained attention on social media, with many users reacting to what was believed to be a payment of only N90,000.
In his latest statement, Ijoba Lande expressed regret over the misunderstanding and pleaded with the public not to misinterpret the situation. He explained that the misinformation did not come directly from him, and he had not intended to portray Funke Akindele in a negative light.
“I didn’t say I was paid N90,000,” he said in the video. “I was actually paid N190,000. People just started saying things I didn’t say. I appreciate the opportunity she gave me, and I have no issue with her.”
Lande went further to acknowledge Funke Akindele’s support for content creators and up-and-coming talents in the entertainment industry. He described her as someone who uplifts others and gives them a platform, adding that he was grateful for the role he played and the exposure it brought him.
The controversy prompted responses from fans and observers, with many calling for caution in how information is shared and consumed online. Others praised Lande for clearing the air and ensuring that Akindele’s reputation was not unfairly damaged by rumors.
Funke Akindele, a prominent figure in Nollywood known for her hit productions such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga and A Tribe Called Judah, has not responded publicly to the incident. However, sources close to the actress suggested she was aware of the statements made and appreciated the clarification.
The situation has reignited conversations about how much emerging talents are paid in Nollywood, with some arguing for better compensation structures, while others emphasized the importance of transparency and communication between artists and producers.
Lande concluded his video by thanking his fans for their support and urging them to disregard false narratives. He stressed that he holds no grudge and wants to focus on his career and future collaborations within the industry.
The matter appears to have been resolved amicably, with both parties moving forward.
