The former registrar, Mr. Olatunbosun Odusanya, and the bursar, Mrs. Roseline Bolatito Akande, of FEDERAL University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, have been warned that their dismissal is irreversible.

They have been replaced, according to the university’s governing council.

Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), FUOYE’s lawyer, told the Abuja Division of the National Industrial Court that the sacked registrar and bursar had been replaced.

The governing council removed the applicants following allegations of misconduct, which they denied.

Adegboruwa stated that they could not seek an interlocutory injunction against the university because they had done nothing six months after the case was filed to challenge the decision to fire them.

Odusanya and Akande were fired in June of this year. Dissatisfied, the pair approached the NICN to contest their dismissal.

They filed an interlocutory injunction to halt the appointment of a substantive registrar and bursar by FUOYE management and the council.

However, Adegboruwa filed a counter-affidavit, which resulted in the motion being dismissed.

The court postponed the hearing until May 25 to allow the claimants to file their response.

Benita Odigie, the claimants’ counsel, urged the court to allow them to regularize their processes.

Justice E. N. Agbakoba had adjourned the case until July 19, at which point Adegboruwa argued that the interlocutory injunction would be invalid.

He stated that the claimants could not reverse an appointment made to replace them following their dismissal a year ago.

If the claimants insist on re-presenting the interlocutory injunction, the defendants will re-present the counter-affidavit challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.

To avoid wasting the court’s time, Adegboruwa stated that he was prepared for a full trial.
