Gang leader flees as troops arrest suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in Akwa Ibom

The two Brigade Nigerian Army in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has disclosed that its troops arrested 2 suspected kidnappers and rescued 5 victims on Monday.

Captain Samuel Akari, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, two Brigade Nigerian Army, stated this in a statement made available to NAN.

Akari explained that the troops, in conjunction with policemen, raided the kidnappers’ den at Abia Palm, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the State.

He revealed that the kidnappers hijacked the bus conveying the victims to Ikot Ekpene from Port Harcourt on September 23.

According to him, “During the operation, the leader of the kidnapping syndicate, simply identified as Jeam Nas escaped with an AK-47 rifle.

“While two other members of the syndicate, Imo Nkwo (23) and Thankgod Ezekiel (24) who attempted to escape were immobilized and arrested and their camp set ablaze.”

Akari also appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies in Akwa Ibom with timely information on the activities of kidnappers and other criminals for quick action
