Gov. Adeleke Orders Investigation into Report of Young Man Sentenced to Death for Stealing a Fowl

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has ordered a full investigation into the case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a fowl. The governor has also directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to initiate the process of granting prerogative of mercy to the young man.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to justice and fairness, stating, “Osun is a land of justice and equity, and we must ensure fairness and protection of the sanctity of lives.”

He assured the public that the case had his direct attention and promised a swift and urgent response.

The reported judgment has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians taking to social media to criticize the perceived disparity in the justice system. Some commentators called for an investigation into the actions of the judge or magistrate who handed down the sentence.
