Gov. Ugwuanyi’s infrastructure interventions have made our job easier – Nigerian Red Cross

The Nigerian Red Cross Society has praised Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the remarkable interventions his administration has made in the provision of road infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and efficient fire service operations in Enugu North Senatorial District and beyond, stating that the amenities have aided the voluntary organization to discharge its duties flawlessly in the district.

On Wednesday, when representatives of the Nigerian Red Cross Society’s Nsukka Division paid Gov. Ugwuanyi a visit at Government House in Enugu, the Chairman of the organization, Engr. Pascal Chukwuemeka Asadu, praised the governor for “your gigantic developmental strides in Enugu North Senatorial District in particular and the state in general.”

Engr. Asadu emphasized that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s developmental trajectory in Enugu North Senatorial District, including road construction, healthcare infrastructure, traffic lights, and fire service facilities, has contributed to the organization’s success story in the zone.

“As an emergency organization, one of our responsibilities is to respond to accident scenes, we have noticed a significant reduction in the number of accidents in our zone, which can be attributed to the quality roads that you (Ugwuanyi) delivered during your administration.”

“In Enugu North Senatorial District, we have responded to 90% of road accidents.” We responded to various fire scenes, including the one at Ogige Market in Nsukka, in collaboration with the fire service. Among other things, our emergency team has been involved in search and rescue operations during heavy rains.

“Although much has been said in various quarters about how your administration’s agenda has positively impacted lives, the roads you built have saved lives and made food available.”

“Your Excellency, your intervention on health by building ultra-modern health centers in almost all of our zone’s local government areas; the introduction of traffic lights also reduced accidents on school children and provided relief to us as traffic wardens,” Engr. Asadu said.

Engr. Asadu, the Nsukka Division chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, praised Gov. Ugwuanyi for the efficiency and professionalism of the state fire service in responding to emergencies, and thanked the governor, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District, for repositioning the sector despite the state’s limited resources and the nation’s economic challenges.

The chairman expressed his confidence in Gov. Ugwuanyi, saying, “Your Excellency, as we stand now, we believe in you; we believed in you yesterday; we believe in you today, and we will continue to believe in you.”

“As the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Nsukka Division, we are apolitical, but we must stand on something to help us.” That is what we have come to do for you, Your Excellency.

“Your first and second terms as governor were both beneficial to us. We have doctors, engineers, and other professionals among the people you see here.”

Chief Engr. Vita Abba, the PDP candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, attended the event.
