A special delegation left the country on Tuesday for special prayers in Rome ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Track News understands that the delegation was led by Yakubu Pam, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), who confirmed to newsmen yesterday that the people involved would offer special prayers for the country ahead of the next elections.

While confirming that one hundred and twenty-one (121) people were on the trip to Italy’s capital, Pam stated that the pilgrimage to Rome was the NCPC’s first.

He emphasized how unique it was, being bilateral rather than the usual pilgrimage to holy sites.

The delegates include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, some State Governors and deputies, traditional rulers and clerics, according to Track News.

Pam stated that the delegation will pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 elections, address security concerns, and discuss national issues.

“We will pray for unity, we will pray for the vulnerable and less privileged,” he said. We will pray for an improvement in the economic situation.

“We will be praying for God to touch the leaders of the country.”

According to the NCPC chief, 40 of the pilgrims were sponsored by the government, while the rest were self-sponsored. Ignatius Kaigama, the spiritual leader of the pilgrimage and the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, commented on the trip.

“We are going to pray for transformation, for the spirit of holiness, and for the transformation of our country,” Kaigama said.
