No fewer than ten political parties have adopted the gubernatorial candidate of New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), in Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo.
The political parties adopted the NNPP candidate on Thursday at an event held in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The NNPP candidate was adopted ahead of the gubernatorial election billed to take place across the state on Saturday.
Some of the political parties that have adopted the NNPP candidate included the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), African Action Congress (AAC), Action Alliance (AA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Others are; National Rescue Movement (NRM), All People’s Party (APP), Action Democratic Party (ADP), Boot Party (BP), Atiku Support Group and others.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than twenty (20) deregistered political parties in the state have also adopted the NNPP candidate.
The leaders of the political parties spoke on behalf of their members on why they adopted the NNPP candidate.
Some of the leaders among whom are Olowo John Bolaji, Sokeye Oluwalogbo, Sonde Rasaq, Amusa Sefiu and Bolaji Sunday agreed that they took the decision in order to rescue the state.
They added that four years of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has rolled back the achievements of past governments and returned the state to the locust years.
They maintained that there was a need to form a virile coalition that would unseat the present governor in the state, Dapo Abiodun, hence the need to adopt the NNPP candidate.
Those who spoke during the adoption, insisted that they took the decision in the interest of the people of the state who were clamouring for a better life.
They said, “The state has stagnated for many years in the hands of previous administrations in the state and we must not squander this opportunity that democracy has given us.
