Gulak: Uzodinma has already confessed, says Wike
Mr Wike further said it is improper for Mr Uzodinma to claim that Mr Gulak was assassinated when the case has not been investigated by security agencies.
Rivers governor Nyesom Wike on Monday said his Imo counterpart Hope Uzodinma has already confessed to knowing those behind the brutal murder of All Progressive Congress chieftain, Ahmed Gulak.
TrackNews Online reported how Mr Gulak, a former special adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was killed in Imo on Sunday.
Speaking on Channels TV on Monday, Mr Wike condemned the killing of Mr Gulak, adding that the issues should not be politicised.
“The point is very clear, we should not politicise everything. I think that the governor of Imo State Hope Uzodinma should allow the security agencies do their investigations,” Mr Wike said.
Mr Wike further said it is improper for Mr Uzodinma to claim that Mr Gulak was assassinated when the case has not been investigated by security agencies, saying that by that statement Mr Uzodinma already confessed to knowing those behind the assassination.
“It is too early for him ( Mr Uzodinma) to come out to say it is a political assassination,” Mr Wike cautioned. “Having done that, it means that he already knows those who committed that crime and that will not be fair. When things of the nature happen, allow the security agencies do their job.”
Mr Uzodinma had on Monday described the killing of Mr Gulak “a clear case of political assassination.“
In a statement on Sunday, the police blamed Mr Gulak for moving around without security or informing security agencies of his movement. Later on Sunday, the police in another statement said they have eliminated Mr Gulak’s killers in a shoot out.
Since Easter morning jailbreak in Imo State, the state and entire South-East region has witness surge in cases of killings and attacks on public facilities, mainly police stations and INEC offices.
