Gumi accuses the DSS of terrorism for detaining terrorist negotiator Tukur Mamu.

The arrest of terrorists’ chief negotiator Tukur Mamu by the Department of State Services, DSS, drew a response from Islamic cleric Ahmed Gumi.
Mamu, who arranged for the release of Abuja-Kaduna train victims, was detained on Tuesday at Cairo International Airport with his family, according to a previous report from Track News.
The DSS informed the public that Mamu was in their custody after he was repatriated on Wednesday, claiming that the spokesman for Gumi has questions to answer over the terrorism wreaking havoc on the country.
However, Gumi urged the DSS to take urgent action and either free the suspect or charge him with a crime during a sermon at the Sultan Bello Mosque.
The outspoken cleric claimed that under the Nigerian constitution, everyone detained for an accused offense must be transported to court within 24 hours for a trial.
Gumi asserted that intimidation by the secret police is also an act of terrorism in response to the suspect’s detention and the raid on his residence in Kaduna State.
Take him to court so he can be tried, he commanded. Despite being a family man, keeping him in detention was only done to scare him. Additionally, the intimidation constitutes terrorism. Terrorism includes both unjust arrests and kidnappings, which is what terrorists do when they enter someone’s home.
“It’s not about Tukur Mamu, you all know that whenever they arrest innocent people, I always talk, not to talk of someone that I know and I’m only advising the government to release him so that we can apologize to him to forget what happened.”
