Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed Abba Abbey Gidan Haki, the personal aide to former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani, confirmed the incident.
In a statement, Mani confirmed that Abbey was kidnapped on Thursday night.
TrackNews Online learnt that his corpse was, however, found after the kidnappers dumped his body along a road to Durbawa town in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto on Friday night.
The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
His funeral prayer led by the Chief Imam of Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodiyo Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, Sheikh Abubakar Shehu Na Liman was attended by Senator Wamakko, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi and other dignitaries.
The ex-governor’s aide is survived by a wife and five children.
“We pray Almighty Allah grant him Aljannat Firdaus and give his family, Wamakko and people of the state, the formidable fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement read.
