Gunmen Invade Imo Church, Kidnap Woman

BY Adeleye Kunle
Mrs. Elizabeth Abioye, the wife of the General Manager of the Imo State Zoological Garden and Wild Life Park in Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area, was kidnapped by gunmen on Sunday.
According to our source, the gunmen apprehended Mrs. Abioye at the First Baptist Church on Wetheral Road in Owerri, where she had gone for evening service.
According to the source, the abductors stormed the church in a Sienna and whisked the woman away.
“The gunmen arrived in an ash-colored Sienna vehicle, forced the woman inside, and drove away.”
“The situation created pandemonium in the church, as worshippers ran shelter skelter,” according to the source.
The church is a few meters from the Owerri Police Area Command.
CSP Michael Abattam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, had yet to respond to the inquiry as of the time of filing this report.
