Hardship: Adamawa Resident Arrested For Killing Friend After Duping Him Of Three Bags Of Rice
A resident of Adamawa State, Aliyu Yakubu, 36, who allegedly murdered his friend after defrauding him of three bags of maize, has blamed his action on hardship in the country.
SaharaReporters learnt that Yakubu had obtained three bags of rice from Bassey Isah on pretence of printing and multiplying money for him through ritual means.
He, however lured Isah into the woods on false pretence of producing ritual money, where he clubbed him to death and buried him.
A family member who spoke to SaharaReporters on the incident, disclosed that Yakubu also carted away the victims car, a Toyota starlet and one tricycle.
The incident happened on June 13, 2024 at Jalingo-Daddawa village under Uba district, in the Hong Local Government Area of the state, according to the spokesperson for the police in the state.
He said, “The Adamawa State Police Command has, on 13/06/2024, arrested Aliyu Yakuba, 36, a resident of Jalingo Daddawa village, UBA, in Hong LGA, for killing Bassey Isah.
“On 13/06/2024, the suspect deceived and dishonestly obtained by fraud from the victim three bags of maize, with pretence to print and produce Naira notes of Nigerian currency.
“The suspect further demanded and received from the Victim a Toyota Starlet car, a motorcycle, and a tricycle, promising to make him rich over night. The suspect then took Bassey to a forest, where he brutally struck him with an iron rod and buried him.
“The suspect volunteered confessional statement to the allegations and will be charged to court for Culpable Homicide punishable with death and Armed Robbery at the conclusion of the investigation,” he added.
