Heavy Security As Court Set To Rule On Nnamdi Kanu Vs FG Suit

The Abia State High Court on Wednesday (today) resumed hearing on the suit filed by the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, against the federal government.
While the court is expected to pass its judgement on the suit today, heavily armed security operatives have been reportedly mounted at strategic positions around the court situated on Ikot Ekpene Road Umuahia, www.tracknews.ng learnt.
Reports had it that security operatives were sighted at the court premises as early as 7:00 am today.
All the roads leading to the court have also been barricaded, while Journalists and staff of the court as well as people accessing the premises were being searched before gaining access to the court complex.
Due to the barricades on roads leading to the court, motorists and pedestrians have been forced to take alternate routes pending when the court case closes today.
www.tracknews.ng recalls that the presiding judge, Justice Benson Anya had during the hearing last year ordered security agents to stop harassing those coming to the court during the hearing of Kanu’s suit.
He accused the security operatives of creating unnecessary tension by their actions.
Today at the court ahead of the commencement of the suit hearing and judgement by the court judge, lawyers and various stakeholders including Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor were sighted ready for the next declaration.
Also sighted was the Counsel to the Chief of Army Staff, Amos Tory, among other defendants lawyers.
