Heavy Security Trail NASS As NLC Protest Continues

BY: Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed
Track News Nigeria covers that an ample number of security operatives are seen in and around the National Assembly to block possible breakdown of law and order during the ongoing protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU).
Our Correspondent says both anti-riot and regular forces’ officers have been put in place at all entrances to the National Assembly and also the Arcade where regular protests inside the Assembly usually take place.
It was not certain whether the protesters will be able to get access into the National Assembly as the main entrance remains closed due to ongoing renovation work inside the complex as at when the editor fills in this report.
A source told Track News Nigeria that the staff of the house now use smaller gate at the Assembly Annex, about one kilometre from the main gate to the complex, as a result of the renovation works.
The policemen and women spread all over the Arcade were seen seated and ready for the protesters.
