Herdsmen: Why We Don’t Take Ortom Seriously – Miyetti Allah

A factional umbrella body of Fulani herdsmen, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has said it doesn’t take Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State seriously.
The National President of the association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, and National Secretary, Engr. Saleh Alhassan, said this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
They stated this while reacting to allegations by Governor Ortom that their members were responsible for the attack on him.
Speaking Bodejo said, “Because his attitude is unexpected of a governor. He has become a specialist in churning out propaganda and profiling of Fulani pastoralists.
“His claim has turned out to be false. Since the time he conceived his wicked anti-grazing law, we started opposing him, and when he enacted the law, we took him to court.
“What Governor Ortom has succeeded in doing with that law is to create a legal monster that he is using to extort our people, through the livestock guard perpetrating all manners of injustices.
“We are still in court and urging President Muhammadu Buhari to call Governor Ortom to order.”
Recall that armed herdsmen attacked the governor’s convoy while on a visit to a farm on Saturday at Tyo Mu community along Makurdi-Gboko road.
While speaking with newsmen after the incident, Ortom narrated that the gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed him and his team to a riverbank when he was on foot before launching the attack.
The Benue governor accused the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore of directing its members to attack and kill him.
However, a shadowy group, the Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Benue governor.
