To celebrate Carter’s 100th birthday, the North Lawn of the White House will showcase a display featuring the number “100” alongside the message “Happy Birthday President Carter,” as announced by the office of the First Lady. The installation of the display is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, October 1, and it will be on display at the North Lawn until the close of the day.

In a heartfelt tribute, President Joe Biden celebrated former President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday in a recent video released by the White House.

“Happy 100th birthday from the Biden family and the American people,” Biden expressed. “Mr. President, you have consistently been a moral compass for our nation and the world.”

“The moral clarity you showed throughout your career showed through again. Your commitment through the Carter Center and the Habitat for Humanity, you’re solving conflicts, advancing democracy, preventing disease, so much more. It’s transforming the lives of people, not only at home, but around the world,” Biden added.

For the past 19 months, the centenarian has been in home hospice care in Plains, Georgia, yet he continues to surpass expectations. This resilience mirrors his extraordinary journey from a family peanut farming and warehouse business to the global arena. Carter served as the 39th president from 1977 to 1981 and has spent over four decades at the helm of The Carter Center, which he co-founded with his wife, Rosalynn, in 1982

In the nearly 44 years since his presidency, Jimmy Carter has played a pivotal role in the near eradication of Guinea worm disease, a debilitating parasite that affected approximately 3.5 million individuals in the mid-1980s, with only 14 cases reported in 2023, as reported by The Carter Center.

This year commemorates the 22nd anniversary of Carter’s receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. In that same year, he embarked on an unprecedented journey to Cuba. Additionally, In 2015, the former president disclosed that four tumours had metastasised to his brain. In December of that year, he was subsequently declared cancer-free following treatment.
