Hon. Mathias Umeh found guilty of selling NG Care slots in Abia
The Umunneochi Local Government Council has alleged that Hon. Mathias Ume and Dr. Oluebube Chukwu has sold the slots of NG cares allocated to the local government
In a statement released on July 30th, it was established that the World Bank and federal government assisted projects allocated to the local government in 2023 were misused by Dr. Oluebube Chukwu and Mathias Umeh.
The statement noted that during an investigation on that matter both Dr. Oluebube and Mathias Umeh were invited. During his appearance Dr. Oluebube confirmed getting 20 slots that were meant for the local government and was evenly distributed through the Oluebube Foundation, while members of the PDP and APC got slots the members of the Labour Party were left out in the sharing.
On the other hand, according to the statement, Mathias Umeh declined the invitation and refused to appear. But he published in social media that he got 30 slots on behalf of Umunneochi Local Government
It was found that Hon. Ume had received the sum of N100,000 into two of his accounts from the beneficiaries.
Umeh who declined the invitation also refused to print his account statement as demanded by the councils.
The council, while frowning on the sale of the slots, concludes that Hon Umeh should return all the money he got from the proceeds of the NG Cares program to the Abia state government.
