Hon. Oseke Rounds Up Townhall Meetings, Renders Account Of Stewardship. (See photos)
TRACKING____The member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Preye Influence Oseke, has rounded up a 2 days tour of his constituency.The tour which is the maiden edition of his “Annual Stewardship Session/Townhall Meeting, was used in appreciating his constituents for their overwhelming votes during the election, as well as their support for him since he took office.The Federal lawmaker enumerated his impressive achievements to the admiration and applause of his constituents, and critical stakeholders, who poured encomiums on him, for the sincerity and consummate passion with which he has served his people thus far.Some of the listed achievements as follows:1. Payment of registration fees for 35 constituents into the Nigerian Military school, Zaria.2. Facilitated the Post-Graduate Scholarship programme of eminently qualified constituents, through recommendation to the NDDC. Many are in various universities overseas for their post graduate studies.3. Unveiled the Preye Oseke foundation to work hand-in-hand with the leadership of the Federated Union of Southern Ijaw Students, for seamless annual payment of bursary. First batch payment for the 2019/2020 session has been paid.4. Have 5 Bills to his credit for the period under review, with all scheduled for first reading. Of paramount importance are:(a) the Bill for an act to amend the National Commission for Nomadic Education Act, CAP N20, LFN, 2004. This seeks to redefine the concept of nomadic education, with the intent of extending it to all categories of nomads, including migrant fishermen, itinerant farmers and pastoralists, as well as the approach to nomadic education.(b) A Bill for an Act to amend the money laundering (prohibition) Act, 2012, to provide for the prohibition of the use of Cryptocurrencies to facilitate money laundering activities in Nigeria.(c) A Bill for an Act to provide an enabling framework for harnessing alternative funding, guide implementation of Public-Private Sector partnership for infrastructural development and undertake other reform measures in public Universities, polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria.(d) A Bill for an Act to regulate the use of armed forces of the Federation in internal security operations and for this purpose prescribe the conditions and procedures for its deployment in aid of civil security authorities and the conduct of joint operations to suppress domestic emergencies.(e) A Bill for an Act to provide special benefits to electricity consumers who make financial contribution to Electricity Companies towards the procurement, installation and maintenance of electricity distribution transformers or other related equipment.5. Sponsored several motions amongst which are:(a) The Urgent Need to Protect the coastal communities of Koluama 1 and Koluama 2 by Addressing The Rising Water Levels Occasioned by Ocean Surge.(b) Urgent Need to Stop the Regular Invasion and Destruction of Communities in Bayelsa state by the Nigerian Military, ( this was co-sponsored by Hon. Preye Influence Oseke and the other 4 members of the Bayelsa Caucus.(c) The urgent need to appoint a substantive Coordinator for the Presidential Amnesty Programme for the Niger Delta region. Within two weeks of taking the motion on the floor of the hallowed chambers, Mr. President has appointed a substantive Coordinator for the Presidential Amnesty Programme.6. Having begun the Ibeni-Akeddei-Ogboinbiri road, a self-help project that predates his resumption at the NASS, has been inputted into the 2020 Budget of the NDDC. This very important road will be extended to cover Gbaraun, Kemebiama, continuing to Kokologbene, Apoi, Ukubie, Logbia, temporarily terminating in Foropa, to cover the coastal communities. Also to be accorded equal attention are the roads linking Oporoma to Olodiama communities of Ondewari, Olugbobiri from where it will be extended to cover Ikebiri, Korokorosei, and Ikeinghenbiri communities respectively, just like Ayama-Igeibiri-Enewari-Opuama extension; the Oporoma-Onyuma-Ekowe-Peremabiri; Oporoma-Otuan, as well as the Ikibiri-Oweikorogha link road.7. Employment into Federal ministries, departments and agencies of some SILGANS.
(a) One civil engineer into Federal Capital Territory Administration.
(b) Two engineers into the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
(c) Five scientists into the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority
(d) Four electrical engineers into the Transmission Company of Nigeria
(e) Four Admin staff into the Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko. The gainful employment of several others recommended for consideration into various MDAs are underway.8. Facilitating the commissioning of 8 Bayelsans into the Nigerian Army as Lieutenants.9. Built virile synergies with the Sustainable Development Goals office to secure slots for 130 constituents, as beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme, as well as 130 slots for constituents, in the Household Feeding Programme.10. Partnering with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, to train youths and women in entrepreneurship.Hon. Oseke reiterated his desire to continue serving his people to the best of his abilities. The townhall meeting also afforded him the opportunity to get feedback first-hand from the various communities under his Constituency.
He also paid courtesy visit to some traditional rulers. Some of the royal fathers visited are the Ibenanawei of Ogboin Clan, HRM, King Oweipa Jones Ere, Ogboin III (JP), Ibenanawei of Bomo Clan, HRM, King W.S Joshua Igbugburu (JP) and Bomo Council of Chiefs, Ibenanawei of Bassan Clan, HRM King Jonathan B. Kubor, Ibenanawei of Olodiama Clan, HRM, King NS Orianzi.Participants at the Annual Stewardship Sessions/townhall meetings includes Chiefs, Youth Presidents and Women leaders from various communities from the Federal Constituency.
