House of Reps fix Date for Resumption of Plenary
The House of Representatives will resume from its annual recess on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, to continue the first legislative year of the 10th Assembly.
TrackNews Media reports that the announcement was made by the clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaha Danzaria.
The 10th Assembly proceeded on recess on July 27, after a plenary session during which Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the leadership of the standing committees of the House.
In reaction to the announcement, House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi said the 10th Assembly had been productive since its inauguration, recording 470 bills, with all passing the first reading, while four passed the second reading. He added that the House had considered 175 motions.
Rotimi said that despite the recess, the House had continued to function, with various ad hoc committees continuing to carry out their mandates. He said this had generated significant positive public interest.
