How I Diverted N5bn To Ex-Gov Shema – Witness

Former Special Adviser to the immediate past governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, on Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), Salisu Nasiru Ingawa, yesterday revealed how he diverted about N5 billion meant for the programme to the former governor.

Ingawa who is the first prosecution witness in the alleged N5bn fraud case filed against Shema before the Federal High Court sitting in Katsina gave copious evidence backed-up with 14 documents which he tendered before the Court. Ingawa confirmed to the Court that the former governor authorised him to inflate some of the contracts he approved for implementation by SURE-P with about 20 per cent to 80 per cent above their original values. He, however, declared that he returned the inflated sum to Shema and on one instance to one Idris Kwado who is at large. Kwado is the second defendant in the case.
