‘I can’t kill myself’ – Ex-SGF, Babachir Lawal, shares photo from farm, says ‘Akara and 5-alife to the rescue’

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, took to social media at the weekend where he shared a photo from his farm.

The Adamawa-born politician, who was sacked as SGF by then President Muhammadu Buhari in 2017 following corruption allegation, said he was exhausted during the weekend’s farming activities and had to resort to the available juice and ‘Akara’.

“Stressed on the farm today. Akara and 5-alife to the rescue. I can’t kill myself abeg,” Lawan said in a post on his Facebook page that boasts of thousands followers.

In another post three days earlier where he was seen taking sugarcane, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who campaigned vigorously for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, said he has been enjoying life in his village of Kwambla.

” This is me enjoying in my village, Kwambla. There is no poverty or election riggers here,” he said.
Recall that Lawan, had during a chat with newsmen in 2018, said he was making more money from his farm compared to his previous political position.

“I was earning N930, 000 monthly as the SGF, now that I have returned to my farm and reactivated it after my sack, I now have 4,000 hectares under cultivation…

“Last year, I earned close to half a billion naira from my farm proceeds, I have a cattle ranch that I am developing gradually and I am back to IT consultancy, life is now good. Everything that happened to a man is for his own good; my sack I would say is rather a blessing in disguise, ” the former outspoken SGF was quoted to have said.
