I Picked Elective Office Ticket After Five Failed Attempts –Bayelsa PDP Reps Candidate

YENAGOA – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, Rodney Ambaiowei, has said that he clinched the party’s ticket after five failed attempts at seeking elective office.
Ambaiowei emerged the flag-bearer of the PDP for the constituency’s House of Representatives seat at the just-concluded primary election of the party for the 2023 National Assembly polls in the state.
He stated in Yenagoa that out of the five times he made attempts in the past, three were for the state House of Assembly while two were for the House of Representatives, which ticket he had won for the forthcoming general election.
Ambaiowei said there was “no victor, no vanquished”, in the outcomes of the exercise of the PDP and described it as a family affair.
He called for support and cooperation in order for the party to dislodge the incumbent member representing the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Preye Oseke, who had also picked the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek re-election.
The House of Representatives hopeful said the journey to 2023 had just begun with the conclusion of the primary election, adding that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in his representation of the people.
He expressed gratitude to the state Governor, Douye Diri, the leadership of the party at all levels, delegates and the people of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, for giving him the opportunity to represent the area.
Ambaiowei, while expressing confidence that he would emerge victorious at the forthcoming polls, also commended his co-aspirant, Kuroakegha Dorgu, for demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship.
He said, “After several years of resilience and attempts, I have picked the ticket for the House of Representatives. In Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, we are one big family that cannot be separated by the outcomes of any elections.
“We have been operating like this for several years and so shall we continue. I promise that I will not take the support given to me by the constituents, our party the PDP, and our amiable Governor Diri, for granted.
“I will champion the cause of the Southern Ijaw people on the floor of the Green Chambers as well as collaborate with the executive arm of the government at the state level in ushering development to Bayelsa.”
