‘I Support Muslim-Muslim Ticket,’ Says Shehu Sani as Tinubu Chooses Running Mate

By Adeleye Kunle
Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central lawmaker, has reacted to the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket chosen by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu.
According to Naija News, Tinubu confirmed former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his standard running mate for the 2023 election on Sunday.
According to Tinubu, the decision was reached after a series of consultations.
Sani responded sarcastically via his verified Twitter page, saying he supports a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“I support Muslim-Muslim Ticket; Me and Aisha Yesufu,” the 8th National Assembly lawmaker tweeted.
According to Naija News, Aisha Yesufu, a socio-political activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, had previously condemned Tinubu’s choice of a single-faith presidential ticket.
According to Yesufu, a Muslim-Muslim ticket is an insult to fairness, equity, and justice.
Religion, she claims, should not have been an issue in Nigeria, but events in the country over the last seven years have made it so.
Yesufu posted on Twitter: “A Muslim-Muslim ticket is an affront to justice, equity, and fairness. It is finished. It’s the worst kind of impunity. It is a slap in the face to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“It demonstrates that they have little regard for people and believe that their structure is more valuable.
“Religion should never be an issue in politics, but events in Nigeria over the last seven years have made it so. It became an issue due to a lack of equity and brazen impunity.
“Allow no one to treat you as a second-class citizen in your own country.
“You can have all your political members from one family if you provide competence, accountability, and transparency, but if you cause division with incompetent and skewed appointments that favor mostly one region and one religion, the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a no-no.
“In 2014, the APC considered running a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Tinubu was said to want to be Vice President at the time. He let go of his ambition because it was impractical. The same APC has risen to prominence and sprouted wings and horns.
Nigerians will remove the wings and horns. Allah willing
“The current disastrous President is a Muslim who has gathered other Muslims around him in an unfair and disproportionate manner to lead the country into the sorry state it is in. People have been outraged by this injustice, and his party is running a Muslim-Muslim ticket “Yesufu observed.
