“I will create my own Amotekun” – Katsina gov-elect Radda

Katsina State governor-elect, Dikko Umaru Radda has spoken about his government’s plans for tackling insecurity in the state.
TrackNews reports that Katsina is one of the northern states hardest hit by armed gangs who attack and kidnap people from villages and highways in remote parts of the region where security forces are stretched.
Lack of security has become widespread and is a key concern for voters ahead of the inauguration of the new administration on May 29.
“I have outlined my strategic policies and one of the main points I said I will do is I will establish a state security outfit. I will create my own Amotekun (Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), whatever name we are going to give it in Katsina State,” Radda told Daily Trust.
He added: “I will look among those categories of people who are living in these localities, especially the frontline local governments because we are thinking of using the locals.
“If you are within the community it makes you stronger, more courageous to face the challenges than people who are coming from outside, they will have it in their heart to deal with the situation. And they also know the criminally minded people within the community.”
