TRACKING____Yenagoa- Mr Douye Diri, the Bayelsa State Governor, has said he will not engage in secret appointment of commissioners into the state executive council, about 100 days after his inauguration.

According to him, consultation was still going on among party stakeholders to pick the right persons for appointment into his administration.

Diri made this known when former members of the state working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Yenagoa.

He had stated in February that it would take him about three months to form his cabinet.

The governor, however, told the PDP stakeholders that only persons with “passion” for the development of Bayelsa would be considered.

He said, “We are not going to do secret appointments. Party stakeholders are being consulted to bring into government persons that would have development uppermost on their minds.”

Diri also said that his administration would not celebrate 100 days in office, citing the current crisis occasioned by COVID-19 as reason.

He said the government was on track and “we are rather expecting to celebrate our achievements in another one to three years’ time.”

He charged the leaders of the party to extend the olive branch to those who had left, noting that they have the onerous task of strengthening the party towards improving its fortunes.
