Ibori to Anioma: Okowa’s re-election is your battle
I Will Win In All 25 Councils, Says Okowa
A former governor of Delta State and political leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state (PDP), Chief James Ibori, has charged the people of Delta North to see the re-election bid of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as their battle.
Ibori, who spoke yesterday at the Oghara Township Stadium during the flag-off of the party’s campaign for next year’s general elections, where flags were presented to its candidates, said: “While I was away in 2014, Okowa came to Oghara to flag off his election campaign. Again, he has come to honour me with thus flag-off, which shows that he knows the history of the PDP political family.”
The former governor expressed confidence in Okowa, saying: “I am with Okowa, both politically and spiritually. Okowa has been on ground while I concluded my eight years and it is only natural that he gets my full support in his re-election bid.
“In Delta Central, we are ready, so I enjoin the Anioma (people of Delta North senatorial district) to see this as their battle. Okowa has done well, anyone who is planning evil against this bid will meet the wrath of God.”
In his speech, Okowa reeled out his achievements, saying he has done well to deserve a re-election, just as he challenged the oppositions to a debate.
“I want to become governor is not to use thuggery or the Police or running away after elections. Oppositions have eyes, but cannot see what we have done.
“Before the elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not exist. Deltans should not be afraid of thuggery. I Am confident of winning of winning the 25 local government areas, because of what we have been able to achieve since 2015.
“Elections are not won with the Police and thuggery,” he told the crowd.
