Igbos Should Be Compensated With Senate Presidency Since They Supported Buhari Says Dave Umahi

The Southeast ought to produce the next Senate President, according to the governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi. He feels that after giving President Muhammadu Buhari the backing he needs, the Igbo people should be rewarded with the Senate’s presidency.
After a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja, Umahi made this information public. However, in his own words, he stated: “I believe that such people have the right in every region to demand that the Senate presidency be given to it. This is the appropriate thing for our leaders to do, and it should be done without compromising their rights and way of thinking. If you look at the genuine reflection of our society, you will agree with me that the Southeast deserves to be in third place.
“This is very important, and I’ve always said that you can deliver somebody by reason of the majority votes of particular regions, but you also need the cooperation of the minority people in order to have a holistic nation to govern,” he remarked. The job of Senate President has become the centre of political controversy following the completion of the general elections in 2023.
The Southeast has been clamouring for years to create the third best person in the nation, according to relevant stakeholders. They noted that since their people couldn’t produce the President, it would be politically fitting for the Igbo people to produce the Senate’s next president.
