IGP Deploys New Commissioner Of Police To Anambra State (See His Profile)
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the deployment of a new Commissioner of Police to Anambra State with immediate effect.
The IGP ordered CP Echeng Eworo Echeng to take over from CP Tony Olofu who was in charge of the state until the directive from the Police boss.
The IGP’s directive was made known to Naija News in a statement on Tuesday signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba.
According to Mba, CP Tony Olofu has now been redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The new Anambra CP, Echeng until his recent posting, was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Bayelsa State. He holds a First Degree in History from the University of Maiduguri.
An experienced peace-builder, he received extensive training on global peace support operations at Mission Training Cell, Kielce, Poland, amongst other tactical and leadership courses.
He has also served as a former Police Component Commander, Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Zonal CID, Zone-13, Ukpo, Anambra State, amongst other key positions.
Also, the IGP has ordered the deployment of a detachment of Police Special Forces to Anambra State to bolster and complement the ongoing peace-building efforts of the Nigeria Police Operation Restore Peace in Anambra State.
The IGP expressed concerns about the growing rate of criminal activities in Anambra recently including attacks on individuals and public facilities and ordered the new CP to bring the situation under control.
The IGP charged Echeng to work with relevant stakeholders in Anambra to ensure the activities of hoodlums are brought to a halt.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Etche Local Government Legislative Council of Rivers State, Mrs. Cynthia Nwala has been physically assaulted by some persons.
Photos of the incident seen by Naija News show that her clothes were torn, exposing sensitive parts of her body.
Apart from that, her car was also damaged in the ensuing trouble, with the rear windshield of her car smashed during the incident that took place on Monday.
The scenario was said to have unfolded within the council premises as a result of the leadership crises among the councilors.
