Ikeja Electric Postpones Event After CEO Allegedly Assaulted by Air Force Personnel

Ikeja Electric has postponed its International Women’s Day event following an alleged attack on its Chief Executive Officer, Folake Soetan, and other staff members by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday when NAF officers stormed the headquarters of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company. The altercation stemmed from the company’s decision to disconnect electricity supply to the Air Force’s logistics base, allegedly over unpaid bills and electricity theft.

According to eyewitnesses, the officers, angered by the power cut, demanded immediate reconnection. The situation quickly escalated as some personnel forcefully broke down doors while searching for Soetan. Reports indicate that the CEO was assaulted and allegedly forced into the trunk of a vehicle before the situation was brought under control.

Reacting to the incident, Morenike Molehin, one of the scheduled speakers for the now-postponed event, expressed dismay over the attack.

“I was scheduled to speak at Ikeja Electric today in honour of International Women’s Day, but the event was postponed due to the unfortunate incident that happened at their office yesterday, and it just saddens my heart how lawless some people can be,” she wrote on Instagram.

She also extended support to the CEO, adding, “My heart goes out to the people of @ikejaelectric and their beautiful CEO, who I look up to @folakesoetan. You are unstoppable. Love you, Ma.”

There has been no official statement from the Nigerian Air Force regarding the alleged assault.
