I’m not under pressure; Okowa won’t form my cabinet: Gov Oborevwori
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori says he is not under pressure to form his cabinet and that ex-Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will not choose individuals to form his cabinet.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Festus Ahon, the Delta governor’s chief press secretary.
Mr Ahon debunked reports the new governor was under pressure from his predecessor.
According to him, Mr Oborevwori is taking the time to pick suitable and competent hands to form a new cabinet.
“The governor is not under pressure from anyone, not even his predecessor, on the choice of cabinet members as was wrongly reported. The State House of Assembly was constituted on June 13 and thereafter went on recess for two weeks and only reconvened on Tuesday, June 27,” the statement explained.
It added, “The governor will pick credible and capable persons devoid of sentiments that will help him deliver on his M.O.R.E Agenda for the people of Delta. The report is, therefore, wrong in its entirety and born out of mischief. Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa does not interfere with appointments.”
Mr Ahon urged Delta residents to be patient with the new governor, saying it is poised to deliver more for them.
