In Imo, gunmen set fire to courts and stole valuables
Unidentified gunmen terrorizing the country’s southeast have demolished yet another government facility in Imo State.
Assailants allegedly set fire to Orlu’s high court and magistrates’ courts, destroying sensitive documents.
The incident happened just a week after daring armed men attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, according to Track News.
Barnabas Munonye, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Orlu branch, confirmed the incident and described it as a very unfortunate development.
He stated that the incident was brought to his attention by the association’s administrative secretary early Saturday morning.
CSP Mike Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the attack.
The police had launched an investigation into the incident, according to the PPRO.
