In Kaduna, 1,789 persons kidnapped in the last six months, says Commissioner of Police.

Bandits abducted approximately 1,789 people in Kaduna State in the first six months of this year, according to the state.
The state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, explained to the state government on Friday that 161 bandits were killed in various communities encountered by security agencies during the same period.
According to the commissioner, security agents in various locations neutralized 59 bandits in the second quarter.
He stated that 285 people were killed during the same time period as a result of banditry, communal clashes, and reprisals.
Aruwan added that 804 residents were kidnapped in the third quarter, with 508 of them recorded in the Kaduna Central senatorial district from July 1 to September 30, 2022.
According to him, “there were 1,133 cattle rustled during the period, while 109 bandits were neutralized during engagements with ground forces.”
He stated that 654 suspects were apprehended during the time period under consideration.
