The Federal Road Safety Commission’s (FRSC) Osun Sector Command has issued a warning against dangerous riding and overspeeding by commercial motorcyclists known as ‘Okada.’

The Osun FRSC also warned that avoiding overspeeding could save lives and severely injure people in accidents.

This warning was issued by Paul Okpe, the Osun FRSC Sector Commander, on the sidelines of a roadshow on commercial motorcycle safety tips held by the command on Friday in Osogbo.

Okpe, who urged commercial motorcyclists to avoid intoxicating substances before, during, and after the ember months, added that there was a need for safety awareness on highways.

Okpe revealed that the command had finalized plans to ensure that commercial motorcyclists followed traffic laws, particularly during and after the ember months.

“The command is partnering with the motorcycle company to further help mobilize and sensitize the entire Okada riders on the road,” he says.

“The command would not back down from ensuring that the state records zero accident tolerance with a decrease in the accident rate.”

“I urge all road users to work together with the command during and after the ember months because safety is a shared responsibility,” he concluded.
