Insecurity: Amotekun impounds 80 motorcycles in Ondo

By Adeleye Kunle
No fewer than 80 motorcycles have been impounded by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps.
The motorcycles were seized for breaking the rules prohibiting the use of okada throughout the state from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The State Government had mandated last month that the prohibition on motorcycle operations outside of 6am and 6pm and nightclub activities after midnight be enforced.
According to Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, state commander of the Amotekun Corps, the directive was a move to purge the state of criminally inclined individuals and organisations.
The Amotekun Commander confirmed the arrest and claimed that his men had been put in a good position to make the arrest of the violators.
According to him, only law enforcement officers or those performing important services are permitted to move at that period because they are required to have valid identity cards before riding motorbikes.
This, he claimed, was due to the Okada riders being blamed for the majority of criminal activity in the state.
Adeleye stated that the government agency will strictly enforce the restriction.
“No movement of Okada again, in that way, anybody seen with Okada at night will be assumed as a criminal and will be handled as such,” he said
