Insecurity: The Nigerian Air Force and its sister agencies launch joint operations in Kwara
On Saturday, December 16, 2022, the Nigerian Air Force 303 Medium Airlift Group (MAG) Ilorin will begin a joint operation with sister security agencies to smoke out criminal gangs along the Eiyenkorin-Peke-Okolowo Axis in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
This was stated by the Commander of the 303 Medium Airlift Group, Air Commodore Ibrahim Garba Jibia, on Friday in Ilorin.
The operation, codenamed ‘Exercise Apejopo Idi’ (meaning Eagle Gathering), will last until the end of December.
“Exercise Apejopo Idi, which is planned for 16th to 31st December 2022, aims at utilizing NAF ground and air assets to comb the bushes and vulnerable communities within Eiyenkorin-Peke-Okolowo Axis.
“The operation would also involve the 22 Brigade, the DSS, the police, and the local vigilante and hunters’ groups to get rid of the bad eggs and any potential kidnapping dens along that axis,” he said.
He added that the operation would involve a large troop movement as part of the combined military and State Government efforts to ensure security along the Eiyenkorin-Peke-Okolowo corridor.
The statement advised all peace-loving citizens not to be afraid and to go about their normal lives during the period.
