Install a capable government using your pvcs. — Baptist Convention
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Dr. Israel Akanji, president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), has urged Nigerians to use their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in the general election of 2023 to elect a government that will oust the evils impeding the nation’s progress and development.
He spoke at Benin City, Edo State, during the 42nd Annual Conference of the convention’s Men’s Missionary Union, or MMU.
He bemoaned the fact that, despite Nigeria’s abundant natural and human resources, some people were actively seeking to sell the nation to the highest bidder.
He declared: “Our ladies and girls are being raped, there is ethnic cleansing, cybercrime, insecurity, etc. Our roads are poor, our farmers can no longer travel to their crops, etc. There is nowhere to hide in the country, in actuality.
“By utilizing our right to vote in the general elections of 2023, we will be doing ourselves and future generations a favor. I urged Nigerian voters to choose candidates who have faith in their ability to develop this nation. They should support a candidate who has the skills and character to lead our nation rather than one based solely on political opinion. We need males who are capable and have strong morals. To combat the problems of the nation, we must use our PVC, which serves as our weapon.
“The degree of unease is disturbing and has persisted for such a long time. To rid the nation of criminal groups, President Muhammadu Buhari and his security officers should embrace fresh tactics.
At the same way that he challenged clergymen in the Convention to be married to the church and not abandon their responsibilities for other things, he commended the MMU for the conference and for not abandoning their commitments to the church and families.
Earlier, MMU’s national chairman, Dr. Soye Asawo, urged the Federal Government and ASUU leaders to resume talks in order to settle their differences and issued a warning that the race for the general election in 2023 was extremely tight.
