IPOB: Kanu sends message to Sheikh Gumi (Photo)
By Doris Israel Ijeoma
Kingsley ‘Kanunta’ Kanu, younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Tuesday asked Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, not to worry about the outlawed group or its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Kingsley was reacting to Gumi’s statement on Facebook where the religious leader said the emergence of Peter Obi as the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 election has brought relative peace to the South-East and lessened the Biafra agitation championed by IPOB.
But responding to Gumi, Kingsley told the cleric to focus on advocating for the plight of bandits.
“Dear Sheikh Gumi, don’t worry yourself about #IPOB and #ESN, they’re doing very well. Please focus on your terror network and continue to plan more attacks in Abuja. Nigeria is for Nigerians and Biafra is for Biafrans,” Kanu wrote on his known Twitter handle.
