‘IPOB’s campaign to boycott 2019 polls in South East, South South stands’

THE Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday insisted that its call to boycott the 2019 general elections was caused by Federal Government’s failure to address its demands, stressing that it was not a fresh campaign.

It stated that unless its demands were met, its stance that elections would not hold in the South East and South South regions was sacrosanct, saying propaganda by some individuals and groups in Igboland against the group would not discourage it from its mission.

In a statement issued in Enugu by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB stated that its position on the 2019 general elections was taken in 2015 and had remained so.

“Nnamdi Kanu is as consistent as the Northern Star. He doesn’t change his position to suit prevailing political circumstances. All he does is geared towards the speedy recovery of Biafra from the clutches of darkness and the iniquity called Nigeria.

“Those who think that IPOB will change its stance through carefully choreographed Fulani inspired propaganda and blackmail are wasting their time. Biafra will be paralysed during next year’s presidential elections.

“Terrorists do not vote. Those who proscribed IPOB and invited the python to dance in our land cannot eat their cake and have it. They know the right thing to do and until they do it, they will not be forgiven,” the statement reads.

He lamented the posture of the Igbo World Assembly (IWA) at a recent event in Enugu, saying, “They must understand that no amount of propaganda against IPOB and Kanu can change our resolve towards influencing Biafrans to boycott the presidential elections next year.”
