The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has requested permission from the relatives of the victims of the train attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.

The request was made by MURIC in a statement made accessible to reporters on Friday morning and signed by its director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.

Recall that on March 28, 2022, terrorists attacked the train traveling between Abuja and Kaduna. Numerous passengers perished as a result of the attack, while many more suffered injuries.

Even worse, the terrorists abducted a large number of passengers and have been releasing them in batches after demanding a hefty ransom. There are still numerous captives.

Reports state that all efforts by the Nigerian Railway Corporation to resume service on the Abuja-Kaduna route have been rebuffed by the families of the victims of the heinous attack.

And while MURIC expressed sympathy to the families, it emphasized that the heinous act must not be politicized. It urged the Federal Government to take immediate action and see to it that those who were still suffering in captivity were set free.

The rights organization demanded the quick start of work, claiming that thousands of Nigerians who depend on train services are daily denied this benefit of democracy.

We sympathize with the victims and their families because this was a really sad and regrettable tragedy. However, life must go on, especially in light of the numerous citizens who are experiencing the effects.

“At this point, the victims’ relatives need to change their minds and for the train services to resume. The interruption only supports the interests of bandits and Nigeria’s enemies, according to the group, which also added that individuals who stop trains and rail activities are only punishing defenseless citizens of Nigeria rather than President Muhammadu Buhari or the Federal Government.

“That is a crucial component of the infrastructure in Nigeria. Anyone who believes that by interfering with train services, they are robbing President Muhammadu Buhari of the satisfaction of a job well done in the field of rail transportation, is gravely mistaken.

Sadly, another essential component of the North’s body is bleeding, according to MURIC.

The Islamic rights organization noted that other Nigerians were also suffering from the nation’s instability, with individuals often losing loved ones to kidnappers.

According to the organization, “the families of the victims of kidnapping and other atrocities have never attempted to prevent innocent Nigerians from enjoying the services of either a local or State government on account of such crimes.”

It questioned why only in the attack on the train between Abuja and Kaduna did the victims’ families turn against the government in an effort to get revenge.

As a result, it concluded, “We are compelled to suspect there may be more to the train attack than meets the eye.” It also pointed out that despite the kidnapping of the Chibok schoolgirls and other similar incidents in Borno State, classes continued as usual.
