Iwobi scores in Chelsea, Arsenal five-goal thriller
Alex Iwobi got his first goal against Chelsea in Saturday’s English Premier League showdown against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were two goals up in the first 20 minutes of the cracker at Stamford Bridge courtesy of strikes from Pedro Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata but the visitors rallied back to even scores.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan reduced the deficit in the 37th minute before the Nigerian ensured the scored stood at 2-2 going into the half-time break.
Iwobi, however said everyone was buying into the ideas of new manager Unai Emery, despite slipping to Chelsea.
“We started shakily, I don’t know, maybe we didn’t know what to do, but we picked ourselves up and got going. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take all our chances,” Iwobi told reporters after the game.
Despite having lost their opening two games of the season, Iwobi said that everyone within the Arsenal squad is buying into Unai Emery’s ideas:
“We were on a high [at half time]. The message was to keep it going, keep our head and don’t lose ourselves. We fought hard for him.
“We enjoy training, everyone is buying into his ideas. It all takes time, a new manager, a new system and the fans and players know that.”
