Jigawa lost 12 to drowning in September — NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Jigawa State Command on Monday said not fewer than 12 persons have lost their lives after drowning inside water in the State.
The Spokesperson, CSC Adamu Shehu who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen, said the deaths were recorded within the month of September.
CSC Shehu who expressed worry over the occurrence and reoccurrence of the incident involving about seven underage children, however, cautioned parents to wary of the whereabouts of their children.
According to him, “A total of Twelve (12) deaths were recorded in Eight (8) incidents that occurred in the State within the month under review. Among these, Seven (7) were male while five (5) were female.
“From among the seven (7) males, two (2) were underage between 15 and 10 years, while all the females were underage between 14 and 8 years respectively. Put together the underaged death toll stand at Seven (7) including both male and female. Most of these incidents were a result of swimming (leisure).
“The report is not only aimed at showcasing the number of deaths recorded but to equally serve as a caution to both parents and the General public,” CSC Shehu however stated.
