Just In: Atiku and Wike’s peace negotiations “crumble.”
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, reportedly tried to make amends but were unable.
After some of Governor Wike’s supporters argued that the former vice president had not acted in good faith to settle the dispute dividing the main opposition party, this has happened.
Recall that Governor Wike and Atiku met in Abuja on Thursday of last week to discuss the party situation.
A conflict developed when Atiku selected Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, to be the party’s vice presidential contender.
During the discussion, Atiku and Governor Wike decided to establish a committee to address the issues splitting the party.
The PDP’s peace effort would collapse, according to a source close to one of the governors who are supporting Wike, according to Track News.
He continued by saying that the followers of Governor Wike are incensed that Atiku invited four of them from his state to a meeting in Abuja.
According to the source, those invited included a former senator and a representative. If you’re talking about reconciliation, avoid that kind of tactic. Atiku presents himself as though he has already won the election. Atiku must be honest if he wants to be reconciled, the other governors concur with Wike. He shouldn’t harm Wike’s reputation.
