JUST IN: Court Authenticate Ukaegbu as Imo State Labour Party’s Governorship Candidate

A Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State has affirmed Chief Ukaegbu Ikechukwu Joseph’s candidacy as the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming November 11, 2023 Governorship Election in Imo State.
TRACKNEWS reports that the judgment, delivered by Justice B. O Quadri, ruled that the primary election held on April 16, 2023, was legitimate.
The case was brought before the court by the plaintiff, Basil Maduka, who claimed that the primary election took place on April 15, 2023. However, Justice Quadri found no merit in this assertion and determined that Basil Maduka did not participate in the party’s primary election, thereby lacking the standing to bring the case against the defendant.
Consequently, Justice Quadri issued an order for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Chief Ukaegbu Ikechukwu Joseph’s name as the authentic Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 Governorship Election in Imo State.
Recall that a previous ruling had already established the suspension of Julius Abure by the FCT High Court. The ruling deemed any primary, screening, or party activities conducted by Abure as null and void. As a result, Lamidi Apapa was declared the authentic Acting National Chairman.
