Youths and other residents of Oyo State protesting the hardship in Nigeria attacked Governor Seyi Makinde’s office in Agodi, Ibadan.

Track News had earlier reported that protesters stormed Monatan area of Iwo Road in Ibadan on Friday to protest the scarcity of the new Naira notes (N200, N500 and N1,000) in the state and across the country.

The demonstrators said the scarcity has caused them unbearable hardship, urging authorities to solve the challenge as soon as possible.

Track News gathered that some protesters marched to the Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan, and attempted to force their way into Governor Makinde’s office.

They were reportedly stopped by security operatives attached to the governor’s office.

Not satisfied, the protesters allegedly threw stones and other dangerous weapons into the governor’s office.

Meanwhile, Governor Makinde has suspended his campaign activities over the lingering fuel and new naira-note crisis across the country.

This was confirmed in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun.

“As a mark of honour to citizens and residents of Oyo State, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has direct that all campaign activities of the party at all levels be suspended until further notice”, the statement partly reads.
