JUST-IN: Lagos Gets New Commissioner Of Police

The Police Service Commission has officially announced on Monday, February 17th, 2025, the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command. This development was confirmed in a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, who serves as the Head of Press and Public Relations for the Commission.

Before stepping into this new role, Commissioner of Police Jimoh held the position of Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority overseeing Eastern Ports. Originating from Kwara State, Jimoh has built a prestigious career within the police force, including roles such as the Force Public Relations Officer and Deputy Commissioner at various levels including the Airport Police, Finance and Administration, and General Investigation units.

Throughout his career, Jimoh has undertaken comprehensive professional training that has equipped him with a diverse skill set. His training includes the Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri, participation in the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan, and specialized training in Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasures at the First Responder Training Institute in the United States.

He also completed courses in Social Construction and Management Reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy in Pudong, Maritime Rescue and Salvage at the China Maritime Academy in Ningbo, and Anti-Hijacking Techniques at Yunnan Police College in Kunming, China. Furthermore, he enhanced his expertise at the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.

Recognized for his exceptional contributions to public relations within the police service, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh was honored with the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

Today, CP Jimoh appeared before the Commission to finalize his appointment, with prominent figures in attendance. These included the Commission’s Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Argungu, former Supreme Court Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje serving as the Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, an Honourable Commissioner representing the Police.
