JUST IN: Lawan is chosen by the APC to succeed Kashim Shettima.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
Sen. Kashim Shettima, who is now the party’s vice presidential candidate, will be replaced by state attorney general Kaka Shehu Lawan if the All Progressive Congress (APC) wins the election in Borno state.
In the party’s senatorial primaries, the Former Commissioner of Justice received 459 votes out of 480 cast ballots.
Alhaji Uba Magari, the party’s returning officer and a former deputy governor of Taraba State, ruled that Bar Kaka Shehu Lawan, a former attorney general, had been duly chosen as the APC candidate for the Borno Central Senatorial seat after having complied with the electoral law’s requirements.
Kaka Lawan thanked the state governor and delegates for choosing him in his acceptance speech. In order to complete the ongoing Permanent Voters Registration process, he asked the delegates to organize eligible voters.
He urged the populace to always pray for their politicians while also assuring them of excellent representation in the Senate.
Babagana Zulum, the state governor, praised Lawan’s ascent and called it a “divine” occurrence.
